Growth of tourist tax in Ukraine: community budgets received over 220 million UAH

In 2024, revenues from the tourist tax in Ukraine increased significantly, showing a 23% increase compared to the previous year. The total amount of revenues to local budgets reached 222.6 million UAH, which significantly exceeds the indicators of 2023. It is worth noting that in 2022 this amount was 53% less and amounted to 178.9 million UAH.

According to the State Agency for Tourism Development, Kyiv remains the undisputed leader in terms of revenues from the tourist tax. In 2024, the capital received 49.2 million UAH, which is 62% more than in 2023 (30.4 million UAH), and significantly exceeds the revenues of 2022 (31.5 million UAH).

The second position was taken by the Lviv region, which replenished the local budget by 47.1 million UAH. This figure is almost identical to the revenue in 2023 (46.1 million UAH) and is 14% higher than the level in 2022 (41.4 million UAH). At the same time, Ivano-Frankivsk region recorded the largest increase, increasing the tourist fee by 84% compared to 2022. In 2024, the region received 33.1 million UAH, which significantly exceeds the 18 million UAH in 2022.

The top five regions also included Cherkasy region, which earned 23.5 million UAH. This is more than in 2023 (21.6 million UAH) and almost twice as much as in 2022 (12.6 million UAH). The Zakarpattia region, which is traditionally attractive to tourists, received UAH 23.1 million, which is 19% more than in 2022 (UAH 19.5 million), and almost corresponds to the result of 2023 (UAH 22.2 million).

The list of regions with the highest revenues is closed by the Dnipropetrovsk region, which received UAH 16 million. This is 21% more than in 2023 (UAH 13.2 million), and almost double the level of 2022 (UAH 9.2 million). The overall growth in the tourist fee indicates a gradual recovery of the tourism industry in Ukraine, which, despite the challenges of wartime, continues to bring significant revenues to local budgets.
