Ukraine and Denmark are starting joint work in the field of water supply and wastewater treatment with the aim of implementing modern European standards and improving the quality of drinking water in Ukrainian cities. This became possible thanks to a new initiative between the two countries, as reported by the Ministry of Community Development and Territories of Ukraine.

On February 27, an important meeting was held at the Ministry of Community Development between Ukrainian officials and a delegation from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Ukraine. During the talks, several important issues were discussed, including the modernization of water supply and sewage systems, as well as measures to reduce environmental pollution. The main attention was paid to the implementation of European standards for water purification, which should significantly improve the quality of water supply in Ukraine.

Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Kostyantyn Kovalchuk noted that providing the population with clean drinking water, effective sanitation, and environmental protection are the main tasks for centralized water supply and wastewater systems. He also emphasized that these systems in Ukraine require urgent reconstruction and modernization, since a significant part of the infrastructure is outdated and worn out.

Kovalchuk emphasized the importance of stable financing and clear implementation of state and regional programs to improve the quality of drinking water and wastewater treatment. Therefore, Ukraine hopes for a fruitful and long-term partnership with Denmark, which will allow integrating the best European practices into the domestic water supply and wastewater treatment system.

As a result of the meeting, four key areas for further cooperation were identified: water supply, improving the quality of drinking water, reducing environmental pollution, and wastewater treatment. For a more detailed development of these areas, a council and working groups will be created to work on specific projects in each of these areas.

This partnership has the potential to significantly improve the state of Ukraine's water infrastructure, ensure high standards of water purification, and contribute to environmental conservation.
