During the period from July to January 2024/25 of the marketing year, Ukraine exported 40.4 thousand tons of wheat flour. These are data from the State Customs Service of Ukraine, which are cited by the Flour Mills Union of Ukraine. This volume indicates stable demand for Ukrainian flour on international markets, although some indicators have still decreased compared to previous years.
The largest sales market for Ukrainian wheat flour was the European Union, where 17 thousand tons of this product were sent. In addition, a significant amount of flour, namely 12.4 thousand tons, was exported to Moldova, 8.1 thousand tons to Palestine, and 1.5 thousand tons to Israel. These countries occupy leading positions among buyers of Ukrainian flour on the international market.
Compared to previous seasons, wheat flour exports in the current marketing year have decreased slightly. Thus, for 7 months of the previous marketing year 2023/24, Ukraine exported 63.2 thousand tons, while in the 2022/23 marketing year this figure was 79.8 thousand tons. This decrease may be due to various factors, including changes in global demand for wheat flour and difficulties arising from external economic factors, in particular, war and global changes in trade.
However, despite the decrease in export volumes, Ukrainian wheat flour producers maintain their positions in key markets. In particular, the European Union, as the main importer, confirms its interest in cooperation with Ukraine, which is an important factor for the economy of the country's agro-industrial complex.
It is also worth noting that the countries that receive Ukrainian wheat flour, in particular Moldova and Palestine, demonstrate a stable increase in demand for this product. This indicates continued interest in Ukrainian agricultural products, which are an important component of the agricultural economy.
It is expected that in the coming months, Ukrainian exporters will continue to work on expanding their sales markets, in particular by diversifying supplies to new countries. At the same time, given the decline in indicators compared to previous years, additional challenges may arise for the industry, which will require adaptation to new conditions of international trade.
