On March 28, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted amendments to the Regulations on the Use of the Country’s Airspace. This decision is aimed at harmonizing the rules with current Ukrainian legislation and European standards governing the field of civil aviation.

According to Taras Melnychuk, the government representative in the Verkhovna Rada, the updated rules are the result of the implementation of Law No. 3007-IX. This document provides for reforming the aviation industry, simplifying regulatory procedures and strengthening flight safety control. In particular, it adapts national rules to European requirements, which is an important step in the process of Ukraine’s European integration.

One of the key changes concerns the simplification of the mechanism for obtaining permits for flights by civil aircraft. This will reduce the bureaucratic burden on airlines and contribute to more flexible flight planning. The adopted decision should have a positive impact on the development of general aviation and expand opportunities for private operators.

In addition, the new rules clearly define responsibility for prohibiting aircraft departures or arrivals. From now on, these issues will be regulated by the bodies of the joint civil-military air traffic management system. This will improve coordination of actions between military and civilian structures, especially in the difficult security conditions in which Ukraine finds itself.

The reform of the aviation industry is taking place against the backdrop of an ongoing war, which imposes significant restrictions on air traffic in the country. At the same time, adapting legislation to international standards is necessary to restore normal operation of the aviation sector after the end of hostilities.

The new rules are expected to simplify the regulation of airline activities, make the licensing system more transparent, and help bring Ukrainian civil aviation closer to European standards. This is an important step on the path of Ukraine's integration into the EU's common aviation space.
