The global car market continues to demonstrate dynamic changes in buyer preferences, and according to the results of the first quarter of 2025, the Toyota Corolla became the undisputed leader among cars. Despite a 13.5% decline in sales, this model was able to lead the global ranking, selling 244,751 units. Thus, Corolla rose one position, ahead of its closest competitors.

In second place was another representative of the Japanese auto industry - the Toyota RAV4 crossover. Its sales amounted to 242,190 units, which is only 0.6% less than last year. Despite a slight drop, the model was also able to rise one position compared to the previous quarter.

The Ford F-Series, which was previously among the leaders, this time dropped to third place, despite an impressive 24% increase in sales. The total result of the American pickup truck was 225,501 cars sold in the first quarter of 2025.

At the same time, a significant drop was recorded in the Tesla Model Y. This electric model lost three positions in the ranking, stopping at fourth place. Its sales decreased by 33.6% and amounted to 191,193 units. Fifth place with a slight decrease in sales (–0.3%) is held by the Honda CR-V — 180,452 cars sold.

The second five of the rating are as follows: Chevrolet Silverado with 150,164 sales (–8%) and Hyundai Tucson, which, thanks to an increase of 1%, sold 148,511 units. The Tesla Model 3 was one of the biggest surprises of the quarter, with sales up 24.2%, moving the model up six spots to eighth place with 139,901 units sold.

The top 10 most popular cars in the world are rounded out by two more Toyota models: the Hilux pickup truck (136,420, +0.5%) and the Camry sedan (136,233, +0.5%). Thus, the Japanese automaker Toyota remains the dominant player in the global market, with four models among the top ten best-selling in the world.
