In September 2025, Ukraine's total agricultural exports decreased by 6.5% compared to August and amounted to 3.7 million tons, which is 25% less than in September 2024. The main reason for the decline was a sharp reduction in oilseed exports - by 53% to 322.4 thousand tons, according to the Electronic Grain Exchange of Ukraine.

At the same time, exports of vegetable oils increased significantly - by 48%, to 313 thousand tons. The export structure looks like this: sunflower oil - 53%, rapeseed - 35%, soybean - 12%.

Rapeseed oil attracts particular attention. In September, its exports increased 4.5 times compared to August, to 108.8 thousand tons, with 85% (92 thousand tons) being delivered to EU countries. This was a record figure for the European direction and allowed Ukraine to regain leadership among rapeseed oil suppliers to the European Union.

According to the European Commission, in July-August, the main volume of rapeseed oil was imported from Kenya. However, by the end of September, Ukraine had regained the lead with a volume of 23 thousand tons (compared to 49 thousand tons for the same period last year).

The growth in rapeseed oil exports is explained by the increase in domestic rapeseed processing after the introduction of an export duty on September 4. Uncertainty in the market forced farmers to sell rapeseed on the domestic market, which provided processors with raw materials against the background of a shortage of sunflower.

The previous maximum export of rapeseed oil was 106 thousand tons in September of the 2023/24 marketing year. In total, rapeseed processing in the 2023/24 marketing year reached almost 1 million tons, becoming a peak indicator for the Ukrainian oilseed industry.
