In June 2025, the unstable situation with food prices continues in Ukraine. According to the analytics of the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business (UCAB), meat prices increased the most over the month, while young vegetables and eggs became cheaper. Vegetables from the last harvest, on the contrary, increased in price again, maintaining the overall inflationary dynamics.
The cost of a "borscht set" in June decreased by 12%, reaching 196 hryvnias. However, if compared to the same period in 2024, borscht became more expensive by 27%. The main reason was the multidirectional price dynamics - a sharp increase in meat prices and a decrease in the price of seasonal vegetables.
In the meat market, the most noticeable changes were recorded in the chicken segment. Fillet prices rose by 11% to UAH 222/kg, which is 39% more than last year. Chicken thighs increased in price by 28% (UAH 154/kg), and carcasses by 25% (UAH 110/kg). The annual increase exceeds 40% for most items. Beef goulash increased in price moderately by 6% to UAH 336/kg, but this is also 20% more expensive than last summer. Pork neck remained at the level of UAH 330/kg, although the annual growth is 31%.
The vegetable market is observing a traditional seasonal pattern. The old harvest is becoming more expensive: onions have increased by 33% in a month and cost UAH 40/kg, and potatoes by 10%, to UAH 38/kg. At the same time, young products are becoming cheaper. Young cabbage lost a record 66% in price, falling to 25 UAH/kg, although it remained 64% more expensive than last year. Cucumbers fell by 18% to 65 UAH/kg, and tomatoes remained stable at 99 UAH/kg, which is 12% higher than last year's price.
The dairy segment was the most stable. Milk prices fell by 2% (54.3 UAH per 900 ml), cream by 6% (33.3 UAH per 200 g), and hard cheese rose by 1% to 631 UAH/kg. A slight decrease in price was also recorded among grocery products: sunflower oil by 2% (75.3 UAH per 850 ml), sugar by 1% (32.7 UAH/kg).
Chicken eggs of category C1 fell by 5%, stopping at 68.9 UAH per dozen. However, despite this temporary decrease, the annual price increase is as much as 79%. This is a consequence of the difficult situation in the poultry industry, which is still recovering from the crisis periods.
In general, Ukrainian consumers continue to adapt to price fluctuations, choosing seasonal products and paying more attention to promotions in retail chains. It is expected that with the entry into a full-fledged summer season, the reduction in the price of young vegetables will become even more noticeable, while meat will remain in the upper price range.
