The Ukrainian defense industry will receive support from one of the world's leading aircraft manufacturers, Airbus. The European concern will help establish maintenance and repair of aircraft in Ukraine, which should be a strategic step in strengthening the domestic defense-industrial potential.
This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to the Ukrainian Defense Industry Joint Stock Company (UDP), which signed a trilateral Memorandum of Cooperation with Airbus. The signing of the agreement opens a new page in the interaction of the Ukrainian security sector with key players in the European defense market.
The first stage of the memorandum will be the training of Ukrainian technical specialists who will work on the maintenance and repair of Airbus aircraft used in Ukraine. This includes, in particular, specialized training of personnel in accordance with international standards.
Further plans include visits by Airbus specialists to Ukrainian enterprises to assess production capacities and create instructor groups from local personnel. This will allow not only to improve the qualifications of employees, but also to gradually deploy full-fledged technical maintenance of aircraft within Ukraine.
General Director of UOP Oleg Hulyak emphasized that such cooperation is evidence of the growing trust of world leaders in the aviation sector in the Ukrainian industry. “Signing this memorandum is confirmation that we are moving in the right direction. This is another proof of our ability to integrate into global technological processes,” he noted.
This step will also contribute to strengthening Ukraine’s strategic autonomy in matters of repair and maintenance of military and civil aviation, which is especially relevant in the context of ongoing aggression by Russia and the need for a rapid response to the technical needs of the Armed Forces and security forces.
