With the start of harvesting early grain crops in Ukraine, the new agricultural season has officially begun - elevators began to receive the first grain of the 2025 harvest. This process traditionally started with barley, which comes from the southern and central regions of the country, ProAgro Group reports.

One of the first to receive the new crop was Chubivskyi Kombinat Khliboproductov, which is part of Tekom Agro Group and is located in the Odessa region. According to the director of the enterprise, Ruslan Mirsky, in the first days of the campaign alone, more than 400 tons of barley were received from the local agricultural producer Yasni Zori LLC.

Elevators of OptimusAgro Trade also joined the harvesting of the new crop. In particular, their unit in the Kirovohrad region — the Ryadivka production and service unit — has also already received the first volumes of barley of the 2025 harvest, confirming the beginning of the active harvest phase in this region.

Traditionally, the first trucks with grain of the new harvest are greeted festively at the elevators — with employees in embroidered shirts, bread and salt. Such a ceremony symbolizes respect for agricultural labor and hope for a generous harvest in the new season.

At the same time, in those regions where the harvest has not yet started, elevators and grain receiving points are completing preparations for receiving grain. This involves both updating equipment and organizational measures to ensure uninterrupted operation throughout the season.

It is expected that with the beginning of August, the pace of grain arrival at elevators will increase significantly, as the harvest will spread to most regions of Ukraine. This means that the country is entering an important phase of the agricultural year, which will determine both the domestic food situation and export opportunities in the context of war and global instability.
