A stable pear harvest is expected in Ukraine in 2025, which has a positive impact on the market and the price situation. This was reported by Taras Bashtannyk, President of the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association, in an interview with SEEDS.
According to him, there are no final statistics on the pear harvest yet, but certain conclusions can already be drawn. The pear remains a fruit focused mainly on the fresh market. It is almost not used for processing, so the volume of production is limited and is always valued for its quality.
“In Ukraine, pears have never been in sufficient quantity, especially of high quality, suitable for storage,” Bashtannyk emphasized. This feature makes pears a promising product for exporters and wholesale markets, because the shortage of quality products supports stable demand.
The expert also noted a similar situation in the apple segment. This year's apple harvest, although not ideal, is still better than last year. Despite some difficulties, prices remain attractive for farmers, which stimulates sales and contributes to the development of the industry.
“Exporters of Ukrainian apples work quite efficiently. Products are supplied both to Europe and to the markets of Asia and the East,” said Bashtannyk. This indicates a stable demand for Ukrainian fruits abroad and the potential for further export growth.
Thus, Ukrainian farmers can count on a profitable season in the pear and apple segment, and consumers can count on a sufficient supply of fresh fruit. Experts predict that stable prices and product quality will contribute to the further development of the country's fruit and vegetable market.
