In Ukraine, the volume of insurance payments under compulsory third-party liability insurance contracts (CTL) continues to grow. In the first ten months of 2025, insurance companies — members of the Motor Transport Insurance Bureau of Ukraine (MTIBU) — settled 122,890 insurance cases, which is 4% more than in the same period in 2024.
The total amount of payments for this period reached 5.3 billion hryvnias, exceeding last year's figure by 34%. As noted in MTIBU, the increase in the volume of compensation is associated not only with a larger number of recorded accidents, but also with an increase in the average cost of repairs, spare parts and services.
One of the key trends of the year was the more active use of the “Europrotocol” by Ukrainian drivers — a procedure for self-registration of road accidents without the involvement of the police. In January-October 2025, 55,462 insurance cases were settled in this way, which is 45% of all accidents compensated under the civil motor insurance. For comparison, a year earlier, the share of such cases was only 37.8%.
The total amount of insurance payments under the “Europrotocol” increased by 84.5% — to 1.5 billion hryvnias. The average payment was 27,599.5 hryvnias. According to experts, the growing popularity of this system indicates the trust of drivers in simplified loss settlement mechanisms and the successful implementation of digital tools in the insurance sector.
Despite the increase in payment volumes, the number of concluded OSCPV contracts has decreased slightly. In the first ten months of 2025, drivers issued 6,039,674 policies — 5.51% less than in the same period in 2024. At the same time, almost all transactions were concluded online: the share of electronic contracts reached a record 99.7%. The total amount of insurance premiums collected amounted to 18.9 billion hryvnias.
Earlier, MTIBU reported that the average amount of insurance payment for claims of victims of road accidents in the first nine months of 2025 reached 42,248 hryvnias, which is 27.5% higher than the previous year. This growth is explained by the increase in the cost of repair work and spare parts, as well as the improvement of insurance claim settlement processes.
Thus, the Ukrainian auto insurance market demonstrates a stable growth in both the volume of payments and the level of digitalization, which indicates a gradual transition of the industry to more efficient and customer-oriented work models.
