From December 14, Ukrzaliznytsia is introducing a new train schedule, which covers regional, suburban and city routes. The company emphasizes that this is the largest update of the schedule in the last three years, and the changes are aimed at improving connections between regions, increasing comfort and increasing the capacity of popular destinations.
One of the key innovations is the launch of new regular regional trains in the west of Ukraine. This should reduce the load on long-distance trains that traditionally go to mountainous areas. In particular, several flights will operate on the Lviv - Vorokhta route: No. 808/807 Lviv - Vorokhta will run from 10:51 to 14:19, and in the opposite direction - from 16:38 to 20:26. Another pair of flights — No. 810/809 — will depart Lviv at 15:51 and arrive in Vorokhta at 20:20, while the return route will depart at 06:10 and end at 10:07.
In addition, the updated schedule provides for increased connections between Lviv and Kovel, which will provide more convenient travel between the western regions. Four trains will operate on the route: No. 840 Lviv - Kovel (05:20–08:42), No. 841 Kovel - Lviv (09:42–13:07), No. 842 Lviv - Kovel (14:10–17:33) and No. 843 Kovel - Lviv (18:33–22:00).
Ukrzaliznytsia is also launching direct flights on the Zhytomyr - Kyiv - Konotop route in a modernized electric train. Flight No. 856 will depart from Zhytomyr at 06:43, pass through Kyiv at 09:03–09:10 and arrive in Konotop at 12:32. Flight No. 855 will operate in the opposite direction: Konotop 14:00, Kyiv 17:33–17:42, Zhytomyr 19:55.
A separate block of changes concerns the Kyiv Ring Electric Train. For the first time in three years, Ukrzaliznytsia is updating its schedule and restoring full-circle operation. The company notes that the departure time changes will not exceed 10 minutes from the usual schedule, but will ensure better synchronization with other suburban trains and will contribute to the introduction of clock-based long-distance train service to Lviv.
All electric trains on the ring route will now be maximally updated — no older than one year after major modernization. The full current Kyiv City Express schedule will be available on the official website on December 14. The changes will also affect suburban traffic: the schedule has been updated taking into account profitability, passenger traffic, and optimal connections with regional, intercity, and urban modes of transport.
A separate innovation was the decision to make all trains in the Kyiv agglomeration 8-car. This should guarantee sufficient capacity during peak hours and at times when other modes of transport are operating with disruptions. According to Ukrzaliznytsia, such changes will increase the stability of suburban traffic and passenger comfort.
