Ukrainian seaports continue to adapt to wartime operations, including energy restrictions and combined attacks. The main goal of these measures is to ensure the continuity of export operations and the stable functioning of port infrastructure even under conditions of increased risks.
This was announced by the Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba. According to him, ports are actively implementing technical and organizational solutions aimed at increasing the resilience of critical infrastructure facilities and minimizing the impact of possible attacks on logistics processes.
One of the key areas of work is the introduction of backup power sources. Autonomous power systems and cogeneration units are being installed in ports, which allows maintaining the operation of key production processes even in the event of power outages.
In parallel, critical port infrastructure is being modernized. This includes updating technical systems, increasing the security of facilities, and adapting port capacities to work in emergency situations related to military threats.
Oleksiy Kuleba emphasized that the Ukrainian Sea Corridor operates in conditions of constant danger, but remains a key route for exports. Since the beginning of its operation, more than 162 million tons of cargo have been processed through the corridor, of which more than 98 million tons are grain products.
According to the minister, during this period, almost 7 thousand vessels passed through the sea corridor. This indicates the preservation of the logistical capacity of seaports and their important role in supporting the Ukrainian economy and international trade.
He also emphasized that strengthening security is a continuous process. The Seaports Administration of Ukraine, in close coordination with the military, law enforcement agencies, and business representatives, daily implements additional measures to protect port infrastructure and ensure the safe passage of vessels.
