Ukraine and German machine-building company MAN Truck & Bus SE have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that defines key areas of cooperation in the field of industry and investment. The document is aimed at rebuilding the country, developing national industry and integrating Ukrainian enterprises into MAN’s global supply chains.
The Memorandum was signed on December 15 on the sidelines of the Eighth Berlin Economic Forum. The document was signed on the Ukrainian side by Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev, and on the MAN side by Board Member for Sales and Customer Service Friedrich Baumann.
The document provides for several key areas of cooperation. Among them is the development of wheeled equipment production based on MAN solutions and the involvement of Ukrainian manufacturers in the company’s global supply chains. Particular attention is paid to the metallurgy, mechanical engineering and IT sectors, where Ukrainian enterprises can integrate into MAN’s production processes.
A separate section of the Memorandum concerns support for the reconstruction and development of the public transport sector in Ukraine. Active interaction is planned in the field of innovations and modern transport solutions, which will contribute to the modernization of city bus fleets and the provision of Ukrainian cities with modern equipment.
Localization of production and integration of Ukrainian companies into MAN’s global supply chains is a key component of the document. This involves organizing specialized presentations to demonstrate the potential of Ukrainian suppliers, as well as developing cooperation in bus production and service.
The implementation of specific initiatives will be based on separate agreements, annexes and roadmaps. The Memorandum opens up the prospect of large-scale investments in Ukrainian industry and strengthening partnerships with a leading European manufacturer of equipment.
