In Ukraine, the price of table beets has shown a noticeable increase in the last week. The root crop is currently being sold for 5–10 UAH per kilogram, which is 19% more expensive than at the end of the previous working week. This was reported by the analytical platform EastFruit, which regularly monitors the vegetable market.
Analysts note that the increase in the cost of table beets is associated with a decrease in stocks of products of proper quality. Domestic producers report a limited number of root crops that meet the standards, while demand from wholesale companies and retail chains continues to grow.
As a result, the price of beets has averaged in the range of 5–10 UAH/kg ($0.12–0.23/kg). Market participants explain the price increase primarily by the reduction in the supply of vegetables: "Sales of root vegetables from unequipped storage facilities are practically complete, and the number of substandard products has also significantly decreased, which allowed producers to increase prices for quality beets," the EastFruit publication says.
Despite the current price increase, analysts emphasize that prices for table beets remain lower than last year. The average cost of current root vegetables is 49% lower than the level of the same period in 2025, which indicates long-term market volatility.
Market participants do not rule out that the trend towards rising prices may be temporary. In particular, a further increase in the cost of beets may stimulate farmers to increase sales from storage facilities, which will increase supply and stabilize or even reduce prices.
Thus, the Ukrainian table beet market is in a state of balancing between limited supply and increased demand. The situation will remain dynamic in the coming weeks, and buyers should expect price fluctuations depending on product availability and farmer activity.
