The weighted average price of electricity on the day-ahead market (DAM) in Ukraine on March 3, 2026 fell to 4816 UAH/MWh, recording this year's minimum. This is evidenced by data from the Market Operator, reports ExPro.
Compared to the previous day, the price on the DAM fell by 35%, which became the lowest figure since December 26, 2025. Such dynamics indicate a significant temporary decrease in the cost of electricity on the Ukrainian market.
Analysts note that the price decline was influenced not only by seasonal factors, but also by additional circumstances. According to ExPro senior analyst Serhiy Koval, unsold volumes of nuclear generation of Energoatom in the first decade of March — about 1 GW of capacity — and favorable weather conditions for solar power plants reduced the price during daytime hours to the minimum values in the last four months.
Solar generation, which actively produces electricity during daylight hours, has also become one of the factors of the resource's cheapness. The high level of renewable sources temporarily increases the supply on the market, which leads to a drop in prices.
This temporary decline in the cost of electricity has a direct impact on industrial and household consumers. For enterprises with high energy consumption, this is an opportunity to reduce production costs, and for the population — to slightly ease electricity payments in March.
Market analysts emphasize that such dynamics are seasonal and it is possible that prices may increase again during the month depending on demand, weather conditions and supply volumes from Energoatom and renewable sources. The temporary decrease nevertheless creates the prerequisites for a short-term relief of the situation on the electricity market in Ukraine.
