A new pedestrian bridge will appear in Kyiv in a park on Prychna Street in the Obolonskyi district. The construction of the project will be financed by the Republic of Lithuania, said Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Valentyn Mondryivskyi.
The project is being implemented within the framework of a partnership between the capitals of Ukraine and Lithuania. The financing is provided by the Vilnius City Hall and the Foundation for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid of the Republic of Lithuania, which emphasizes the close bilateral relations between the cities.
In February of this year, the Kyiv City Council approved a partnership assistance agreement from the Lithuanian side for the construction of a park bridge, paving the way for the start of work.
The new structure will be a pedestrian bridge across a pond in the park and is modeled after the King Mindaugas Bridge in Vilnius. Such an architectural solution symbolizes friendly ties and cultural exchange between the capitals of the two countries.
The idea of creating the bridge arose not only as an infrastructure project, but also as a symbol of the long-standing partnership between Kyiv and Vilnius. It will become a sign of support for Ukraine from Lithuania during the war and will reflect the solidarity of the Lithuanian people.
The new bridge is expected to improve the pedestrian infrastructure of the Obolon district, become an attractive location for walks and cultural events, and strengthen cooperation between the Ukrainian and Lithuanian capitals at the municipal level.
