In Ukraine, in March 2026, a sharp increase in demand for electric cars was recorded. According to the Institute for Automotive Market Research, a total of 6,361 electric cars were registered in three segments — new cars, used imported and used domestic — this is more than twice the February figures.
Analysts note that the largest surge was observed in the domestic secondary market: resales increased by 124.6% compared to the previous month. Experts call the main reason for such a boom a record increase in fuel prices — diesel reached 86 UAH per liter, and A-95 gasoline is held at 72 UAH.
In addition to domestic resales, imports of used electric cars increased significantly — by 84.9% compared to February, and the new car segment added 55.5%. This trend indicates the general interest of Ukrainians in switching to electric vehicles.
The domestic secondary market is led by the popular Nissan Leaf models - 661 cars were registered, followed by the Tesla Model 3 (428) and Tesla Model Y (311). Analysts note that imported used cars repeat this trend, but with a greater emphasis on more modern years of production and better technical condition. The top three imported models are the Nissan Leaf (204), Tesla Model 3 (197) and Tesla Model Y (197).
The segment of new electric vehicles in March demonstrated the undisputed dominance of Chinese brands. The BYD Leopard 3 received the most sales - 33 cars, followed by the BYD Sia Lion 06 (27) and Zeekr 001 (26). This indicates the increased trust of Ukrainian buyers in Chinese manufacturers of electric vehicles.
Experts emphasize that such a rapid growth in demand for electric vehicles can be an impetus for the development of charging station infrastructure and stimulate further investments in the “green” mobility segment in Ukraine. Demand is growing simultaneously in all market segments, which creates favorable conditions for electric vehicle dealers and suppliers.
