In April 2026, the Ukrainian market of passenger cars of Chinese origin demonstrated stability. During the month, Ukrainians purchased 1,252 cars imported from China. This figure is only 0.3% lower than for the same period last year. This was reported by Ukravtoprom.
According to the association, the vast majority of purchased cars were new cars. In April, Ukrainians registered 1,076 new Chinese-made passenger cars, which is 4% more compared to April 2025. At the same time, the used car segment showed a decline: 176 such cars were purchased, which is 21% less than a year earlier.
Analysts also drew attention to the structure of the market by engine type. Electric cars traditionally occupied the largest share among passenger cars from the PRC — 46.1%. However, this figure is significantly lower than last year: in April 2025, the share of electric cars reached 82%.
The second most popular car was hybrid cars, which accounted for 30% of all sales. The share of gasoline models was 19.6%, diesel - 4.1%. Cars with gas equipment remained an almost invisible segment of the market - only 0.2%.
Among new cars of Chinese origin, the BYD Sea Lion 06 was in the greatest demand in April. Ukrainians purchased 102 of these cars. The second place was taken by the BYD Leopard 3 with a result of 96 registered cars, and the third place was taken by the BYD Song L - 94 cars.
The top five most popular new models also included the MG ZS, which was chosen by 52 buyers, and the CHERY Tiggo 4 with an indicator of 51 cars. This indicates that Ukrainian consumers still have a high interest in Chinese brands, especially in the electric car and crossover segment.
The leader in the used car market from China was also BYD Song L — 22 such cars were registered in April. Next in the ranking was BUICK Envision with a result of 15 cars. Third place went to KIA EV5, which was purchased by 9 units.
In addition, the list of the most popular used models included BYD Sea Lion 05 — 8 cars, as well as BYD Song Plus with an indicator of 7 registered cars. Analysts note that the demand for Chinese cars in Ukraine remains stable, despite changes in the market structure and fluctuations in interest in electric cars.
