A gradual increase in selling prices for potatoes of the 2025 harvest is being recorded in Ukraine. Since the beginning of last week, products remaining from last year's stocks have begun to become more expensive on the domestic market.

As EastFruit reports with reference to Delo.ua, producers sell potatoes at a price of 6 to 12 UAH per kilogram, which is equivalent to approximately $0.14–0.27 per kilogram.

The cost level depends on the variety, batch volumes and quality characteristics of the product. On average, prices have increased by approximately 15% compared to the end of the previous working week.

Market participants note that the increase in prices is primarily due to a seasonal reduction in supply. At the same time, demand remains stable, which additionally supports the upward price dynamics.

Wholesale companies report a shortage of quality potatoes, which makes it difficult to form large wholesale lots. There is less and less high-quality products on the market that are suitable for stable supplies.

Despite the current growth, last year's potatoes still remain significantly cheaper than in the corresponding period last year - by about 60%. This indicates a general decrease in the price of the crop in annual terms, despite the recent short-term price increase.

Market analysts predict that the upward trend may continue. The main factors for the potential price increase are the increase in the share of substandard products and the gradual depletion of potato stocks among the population.
