Ukraine is expecting a record harvest this year as the Ministry of Agrarian Policy has raised its forecast for grain and oilseed production to an impressive 81.3 million tons, with a higher yield of 54.7 centners per hectare.

The press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reported that the forecast for grain production was revised to 59.7 million tons, while oilseeds remain unchanged at 21.6 million tons.

As of today, the total harvest of grains and oilseeds reaches 81.3 mln tons.

Preliminary forecasts for 2023 indicate that farmers will harvest the following volumes of grain:

As for oilseeds, the harvest of sunflower remains at 13 million tons, and soybeans - 4.6 million tons.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food also notes a record grain yield of 54.7 c/ha, which exceeds the previous record of 2021 (53.6 c/ha). This made it possible to revise the forecast for this year's harvest and especially to increase corn production from 28.5 million tons to more than 30 million tons.

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, corn harvesting has been completed on 87% of the area. Compared to the previous year, when 66% of the area was harvested as of the same date, this indicates high productivity this season.

"Under favorable weather conditions, corn harvesting will continue, although part of the crop will remain in the fields until spring," the agency said.

It is important to note that the planted areas in 2023 decreased by 980 thsd ha compared to the previous year, amounting to 10 895 thsd ha.

According to the Ukrainian Grain Association, the estimate of the potential harvest for 2023 also increased by 1.1 mln tons and now amounts to 81.6 mln tons of grains and oilseeds.
