The Ukrainian vegetable market is experiencing a decline in carrot prices, which is due to the active sale of stocks of this product by farmers from storage facilities. This is reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.
According to them, Ukrainian farmers have reduced carrot prices by 14% on average compared to the end of last week. The cost of this vegetable crop is currently between 7 and 10 hryvnias per kilogram.
One of the main factors affecting prices is an increase in the supply of low- and medium-quality carrots on the market. According to analysts, due to the mild winter, the quality of products in unequipped storage facilities is rapidly deteriorating, forcing farmers to sell their stocks quickly.
"Meanwhile, the owners of high-quality carrots that do not have storage problems prefer to suspend sales," the analysts emphasize.
According to their forecasts, the average price of carrots in Ukraine is already 72% lower than in February 2023. However, most market participants do not rule out further price declines, as trading activity in this segment remains low.
