On June 25, 2024, the National Bank of Ukraine presented a new circulating commemorative coin "Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine". This coin is part of the "Armed Forces of Ukraine" series and is designed to honor the work of military medics who provide medical care to both military and civilians in the war zone.

As the NBU press service reported, this initiative reflects the selfless work of medical workers who provide qualified and specialized assistance in the most difficult conditions. The coin will be a symbol of their professionalism and charity.

The coin has a face value of 10 hryvnias and is made of a zinc-based alloy with a nickel coating. Its weight is 6.4 grams, its diameter is 23.5 millimeters. The circulation of the coin is 10 million pieces, of which 500,000 were issued in souvenir packaging. The band of the coin is grooved, which gives it a special appearance.

The obverse of the coin reproduces the design of the 10 hryvnia circulation coin of the 2018 model, with the image of the denomination, the year of minting and the coat of arms of Ukraine in the center of the Old Russian ornament. The reverse of the coin is decorated with the inscriptions "PROFESSIONALISM AND MERCY" and "MEDICAL FORCES OF THE ARMED FORCES OF UKRAINE". The central element of the reverse is the emblem of the Medical Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a cross and a stylized snake wrapping around a diver, symbolizing medical care.

According to the NBU, new coins will gradually enter circulation through banks and SIT companies for further distribution among customers. They will be accepted as ordinary circulation coins with a denomination of 10 hryvnias in all types of cash payments and for crediting to accounts.

The introduction of nearly 10 million such coins will help raise awareness of the role of military medics and support their important work. Part of the circulation of coins will be released in specially designed rolls of 25 coins. The emblem of the Medical Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and elements of pixel camouflage are placed on the souvenir packaging. The circulation of such videos is 20,000 pieces.

The sale of souvenir rolls will begin on July 2, 2024 through the National Bank's online store of numismatic products and distributor banks, the list of which will be available on the NBU's official website.
