In the Volyn region, a decrease in the number of cattle was recorded, which currently amounts to 104,000 heads, of which 62,000 are cows in farms and single-person farms. This was reported by the Director of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development Yuriy Yurchenko in a comment for Suspilny.

Despite the general decrease in the number of cattle, the production of meat and milk in the region remains stable. Yuriy Yurchenko explains that changes in the number of livestock are related to the transformation of the livestock market, changes in the demographic situation, and other factors. According to him, Volyn produces more than 150,000 tons of milk per year, which fully meets the needs of the region.

To support farmers who own from three to one hundred cows, the government has provided special budget subsidies. This year, farmers can receive up to 7 thousand hryvnias for each cow. This decision aims to support farms and promote the development of dairy production in the region.

Roman Prytolyuk from the Lutsk district owns more than 80 dairy cows and young animals. He uses 30 hectares of land for cattle grazing. The farmer notes that due to periodic power outages, milk production has halved. He believes that this is one of the biggest problems in his farm.

There are currently 50 dairy cows grazing on his farm, and six calves were born during July. Farmers raise cows of the Ukrainian black-spotted dairy breed. At the same time, in the neighboring village of Myrne, local resident Viktor Brykailo noted that the number of cows in his village has significantly decreased.

Local resident Ivanna Kalytka keeps a cow, the milk from which she processes and sells at the bazaar. This allows her to earn some income. Another resident, Svitlana Vasylivna, said that she got rid of her cow due to the lack of pastures. According to her, earlier there were many cows in the village, but now the situation has changed.

Yuriy Yurchenko also added that according to the submitted applications for the support and development of farms, the people of Volhynia will receive 55 million hryvnias. These funds should help local farmers overcome problems and support the development of animal husbandry in the region.
