New international retailers will soon enter Ukraine, with which negotiations are currently underway. Among them are the brands UNIQLO (Japan), Kiabi (France) and Pepco (Poland), according to UTG.
These companies plan to open their stores in Ukrainian shopping centers in the near future. In addition, this year international brands that previously did not intend to open their stores in Ukraine until the end of the war have returned to the Ukrainian market. These are the brands H&M and Inditex, which, after assessing the risks and demand, decided to resume operations in Ukraine even during the war.
According to analysts, despite the difficult conditions, there is an increase in interest from international retailers in the Ukrainian market. At the same time, in order to meet the demand of retailers, nine new shopping centers with a total area of about 210 thousand square meters are planned to be opened in Kyiv in 2025.
Among the new facilities are Ocean Mall, Baltic Sky, InterGal City Venice Mall and others. However, according to UTG analysts, the opening dates of new shopping centers may be postponed due to power outages, security risks, labor shortages and other factors.
At the same time, according to analysts, in 2024, despite the general stability of the supply of retail space, the vacancy rate in shopping and entertainment centers in Kyiv decreased. In particular, from 16.3% in 2023 to 15% at the end of 2024.
It should be noted that in 2024, a new shopping center Epicentr Green Gallery with an area of 62 thousand square meters was opened in the Kyiv region. Small shopping centers were also put into operation in Odessa, Uzhgorod and Kamianets-Podilskyi.
Shopping malls and operators operating in southern and eastern Ukraine, where the situation remains difficult due to fighting and security challenges, have been particularly affected.
