Taiwanese company Acer has announced its intention to increase the prices of its laptops in response to new tariffs imposed by the US administration under Donald Trump. The company's chairman, Chen Junsheng, said in an interview with British media that the price hike will be a result of the imposition of tariffs on imported goods from China.
According to Taiwan Economic Daily, Acer plans to increase the prices of products subject to the new US tariffs. The decision will also affect other companies that produce technology products from China for export to the US market.
According to forecasts, the cost of new Acer laptops made in China and sold in the United States may increase starting in March this year. In addition, there is a possibility that laptops intended for sale in the US market will be manufactured by the company's OEM partners outside of mainland China.
The price hikes for technology products are a response to global trade tensions and reflect companies’ efforts to adapt to the new conditions for export-import transactions between China and the United States.
It is worth noting that the introduction of import tariffs affects not only manufacturers, but also consumers, who can expect prices for electronic devices to increase in US stores in the near future.
In light of these changes, companies such as Acer continue to adapt their business strategies to remain competitive in international markets and ensure resilience in the face of global trade challenges.
