The Turkish company Atlas Global Energy has announced a large-scale project to build a wind power plant in the Zhytomyr region. This was announced by the head of the Zhytomyr regional military administration, Vitaliy Bunechko, during the signing of a memorandum with the company on March 6, 2025.

According to Bunechko, the implementation of this project is an important step towards strengthening the energy security of the region, as the development of alternative energy sources will be the key to a stable energy system in the Zhytomyr region. He emphasized that alternative energy is becoming increasingly important for local communities, which is especially important in the context of global challenges and climate change.

Vitaliy Bunechko also noted that Atlas Global Energy has significant experience in the field of renewable energy in Ukraine, which allows us to hope for a quick and effective implementation of the project. He also emphasized that the support of local authorities and communities will allow for the fastest implementation of this important project for the region.

One of the main advantages of building a wind power plant will be not only reducing dependence on traditional energy resources, but also providing 100-200 MW of additional capacity for energy production. This, in turn, will have a positive impact on the economy of the region, in particular, due to additional revenues to local budgets and the creation of new jobs for local residents.

At the moment, a set of measures is planned to determine wind flows, which will allow for the precise determination of locations for the installation of future wind turbines. This precedes the main construction stage and will ensure the efficiency of the plant.

The wind power project in Zhytomyr region is part of a broader initiative to develop alternative energy in Ukraine. In October 2024, plans were already announced to launch new capacities by Atlas Global Energy in the region, which allows us to predict the further development of this energy sector in Ukraine.
