Iceland has taken another important step in supporting Ukraine by transferring more than 2 million euros to the Ukraine’s Energy Support Fund. This brings the total amount of assistance from this country to more than 5.6 million euros. This contribution will allow Ukraine to strengthen its energy infrastructure, which was damaged by aggression.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of this assistance in the context of restoring the energy sector. Ukrainian Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko thanked Iceland for its continued support, noting that every contribution from partners is crucial for Ukraine. The funds spent are being used to purchase equipment that helps energy workers restore damaged infrastructure and restore electricity and heat supply to Ukrainian homes.
This is not the first time Iceland has provided assistance to Ukraine in restoring its energy infrastructure. In particular, from 2023 to 2024, the country made four preliminary contributions to this fund. These funds were used to purchase the necessary equipment for fuel and energy sector enterprises operating in such regions as Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson.
The Energy Support Program of Ukraine is aimed at restoring energy facilities damaged by hostilities and ensuring uninterrupted energy supply to the population. Iceland continues to remain one of Ukraine's reliable partners in this difficult period.
The assistance provided by Iceland is an important stage in cooperation between the countries, contributing not only to the restoration of energy sustainability, but also to the growth of international support for Ukraine. The increase in funding allows accelerating the restoration of energy infrastructure, which is extremely important for the country's stability in wartime conditions.
Overall, Ukraine's partner countries, in particular Iceland, play a key role in ensuring national energy security and resilience, helping Ukrainians survive the difficult period of recovery from the devastation.
