During April 2025, pork prices in Ukrainian supermarkets increased noticeably. If at the beginning of March a shoulder blade or thigh could be purchased at a reduced price of 150–160 UAH/kg, then by the end of April the cost of even the cheapest boneless pork parts rarely drops below 200 UAH/kg. This is reported by the analytical resource "ProAgro Group".
Pork ribs and brisket remain among the most affordable - their minimum price currently starts from 199 UAH/kg. For comparison: in March these parts cost between 180–190 UAH/kg. The underbelly has also increased in price - by about 15 UAH per month. The average cost of this type of meat is now 215 UAH/kg.
The most noticeable increase in price was recorded for pork neck. If in March the price fluctuated between 260 and 280 UAH/kg, now it has increased to 320–345 UAH/kg. Thus, some items have increased in price by almost a third in a month.
Shoulder, which is a popular choice among buyers, has also increased in price. It can now be found within 220–240 UAH/kg, while in March it cost 190–200 UAH/kg. Thus, the price jump has covered almost all categories of meat.
The reasons for the increase in the cost of pork are complex. Experts note a combination of several factors: general inflation, seasonal demand associated with the beginning of the picnic season, a reduction in supply on the market, as well as the continued spread of African swine fever (ASF), which affects production volumes.
You should not expect a decrease in prices in the near future, because the listed factors are likely to persist in the coming months. This means that Ukrainian consumers will have to adapt to the new reality of meat prices.
