The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to allocate additional funding for the development of critically important areas - healthcare and school infrastructure. According to the official statement of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, more than 26 million hryvnias will be allocated for the purchase of new medical vehicles, and almost 5 million more - for the renovation of catering units in schools in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The head of the government emphasized that the renovation of the fleet of medical institutions directly affects the effectiveness of providing assistance: "The prompt response of doctors often decides whether a patient's life will be saved. Therefore, investments in modern medical vehicles are investments in the safety of every citizen," Shmyhal emphasized.
In parallel, the government approved the allocation of 4.9 million hryvnias in subventions for the modernization of catering units in educational institutions of the Dnipropetrovsk region. The source of funding is the UN World Food Program, which actively supports Ukraine in the field of child nutrition and food security in wartime conditions.
According to the Prime Minister, significant attention is paid to free meals for students. Currently, more than 1.6 million primary schoolchildren across the country already receive free lunches. From the beginning of the new academic year, this program will be expanded to all schools in front-line regions. The government intends to gradually cover the entire country with it.
This step is a continuation of a broader initiative to modernize catering units in educational institutions, which began in 2024. Back in March, the Cabinet of Ministers agreed to co-finance 75 projects, which at that time had already been implemented by at least 40%. This allows ensuring the sustainability and quality of school meals even in difficult conditions.
Thus, the government demonstrates a comprehensive approach to supporting vital sectors: parallel strengthening of medical infrastructure and training conditions contributes not only to stability in the regions, but also to the formation of a reliable foundation for the country's post-war recovery.
