In August 2024, the export of grain cargoes from Ukraine by rail shows significant growth. Since the beginning of the month, 1.806 million tons of grain have been transported, which is 68% more compared to July 2024 and three times more than during the same period in August last year.

Representatives of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" announced these data during an online meeting with participants of the agricultural market, according to information provided by Rail.insider. In particular, the volume of grain cargo in August amounted to 1 million 709 thousand tons, which is 26% higher than July figures. Compared to August 2023, this indicator increased by 2.1 times.

The share of grain cargoes in the total volume of transportation is 20%. The average daily load during the reporting period reached 88.4 thousand tons, which is 15% more than in July 2024, when this indicator was at the level of 77 thousand tons.

In the total volume of transportation, which includes grain and products of its processing, the volume was 2 million 18 thousand tons. This result is 58% higher than July and almost twice the volume of August 2023.

A significant increase in the volume of grain shipments indicates positive changes in export connections and growing demand for Ukrainian grain on international markets. The increase in transportation volumes is an important signal for the agricultural sector and may influence the further development of infrastructure to support grain exports.
