As of August 30, active harvesting of the new corn crop has begun in Ukraine. To date, almost 33 million tons of grain have been collected, which was obtained from an area of 8,511 thousand hectares. The agrarians of the Poltava and Cherkasy regions have already started threshing corn, which is cultivated on an area of 6.6 thousand hectares.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reports that a total of 28.7 million tons of grain crops and 4.2 million tons of oilseeds were harvested this year. These data indicate significant activity in harvesting, despite difficult weather conditions.
In particular, the following harvest volumes were collected:
- Wheat: 4,863.3 thousand hectares were threshed, 21.76 million tons were threshed.
- Barley: 1,399.3 thousand hectares were threshed, 5.5 million tons were threshed.
- Peas: 207.6 thousand hectares were threshed, 458.5 thousand tons were threshed.
- Millet: 24.7 thousand hectares were threshed, 45.5 thousand tons were threshed.
- Buckwheat: 12.4 thousand hectares were threshed, 18.3 thousand tons were threshed.
- Rapeseed: 1,229.2 thousand hectares were threshed, 3,403.9 thousand tons of seeds were threshed.
- Sunflower: 256.5 thousand hectares were threshed, 419.4 thousand tons of seeds were threshed.
- Soybeans: 223.7 thousand hectares were threshed, 381.8 thousand tons of seeds were threshed.
This year turned out to be active for farmers who, despite all the challenges, continue to harvest successfully. The results of the collection indicate significant harvest volumes, which may affect the country's food security and market stability.
Further forecasts will depend on weather conditions and threshing rates, but currently farmers demonstrate high efficiency and readiness to implement the new harvest.
