Since the beginning of the year, more than 150,000 hectares of agricultural land, which were surveyed, cleared and demined by sappers, are already actively used by Ukrainian farmers for growing agricultural products. This figure shows significant progress in restoring access to fertile land, which is vital for strengthening food security both in Ukraine and globally.

This was announced by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyridenko, emphasizing the importance of this work to ensure stable food supplies. According to her, the clearing and return to use of valuable agricultural land is a priority task of the government, especially in the conditions of the current challenges.

Svyridenko noted that currently there are 51 certified operators operating in Ukraine, which carry out demining of territories. To speed up this process, the government compensates farmers for demining their land. This allows farmers to return to work in the fields faster, increasing the production of agricultural products.

"At the moment, we have already received 137 applications for compensation for land demining with a total area of ​​more than 17,000 hectares. A demining conference will be held in Switzerland in October, where we expect to receive further support from international partners in our efforts," Svyridenko said.

The official also added that the restoration of Ukrainian agricultural infrastructure and the return to operation of demined lands help Ukraine maintain its status as one of the main guarantors of global food security. Thanks to this, the country was able to restore the export routes of agricultural products through the ports of Great Odesa.

Thus, demining agricultural land not only supports domestic production, but also contributes to the stability of global food markets, which is especially important in the context of modern crises and challenges in the world.
