Today, Ukrainian gardeners set new price records for apples, offering them for 15-22 hryvnias per kilogram. These prices are 23% higher than last week, which is due to a number of factors identified by the analysts of the EastFruit project.
According to experts, one of the main factors of price growth is the reduction in the supply of autumn varieties of apples. These varieties are traditionally cheaper compared to their winter counterparts, which are usually in higher demand during the colder months.
"The increase in prices is explained not only by a reduction in the supply of autumn varieties, but also by an increase in trade activity in this segment, as the assortment of fruits and berries from local producers undergoes a seasonal reduction," analysts note.
Experts also point to the tendency of Ukrainian gardeners to store a larger volume of apples for further use, which has led to a significant decrease in supply on the market. This, in turn, contributed to the further increase in prices for this fruit.
Over the past seven years, apple prices have reached their maximum, which is reflected in the strengthening of gardeners' positions on the market and the maintenance of high fruit prices. Currently, there is a positive trend in price growth, which, according to analysts' forecasts, may continue in the coming weeks, depending on the development of the market situation and weather conditions.
