The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine announced the allocation of 50 million euros, provided within the framework of the European Union budget support, for the repair and modernization of port infrastructure. This step is another important stage in supporting the functioning of critical facilities of the successful port system of the state.
It is noted that the funds will be directed to the repair and development of nationwide port and sub-port facilities. In particular, special attention will be paid to the restoration of facilities that have been damaged by the aggression of the Russian Federation. This item includes the overhaul of the overpass of the Odessa Port State Enterprise and security zones.
The support of the European Union makes it possible to cover the gaps in financing and ensures long-term prospects for the development of Ukrainian ports. Even during military risks, Ukrainian ports maintain their operational activities, which allows them to ensure tonnage volumes of supplies of important products for international markets.
Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Timur Tkachenko said that the EU contribution creates conditions for the stable operation of the sea gas gate. “Thanks to this, we maintain the status of a reliable partner and food guarantor for many countries of the world,” he added.
This initiative confirms Ukraine’s ability to adapt to the difficult conditions of wartime and disruption of traditional logistics chains.
