Ukraine and Egypt are discussing the prospect of deepening cooperation in the agricultural sector, in particular, the possibility of opening a Ukrainian food hub on Egyptian territory. Such a step could significantly strengthen trade relations between the countries and provide new opportunities for the export of Ukrainian agricultural products.
Key meeting at a high level
These issues were discussed during a meeting between the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Vitaliy Koval, and the newly appointed Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Ukraine, Barakat Ali Elleiti. According to the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the parties focused on finding ways to develop mutually beneficial cooperation.
Priority areas of cooperation
Among the main topics of the meeting were:
- Reducing payment deferrals for Ukrainian exporters, which will improve trading conditions for Ukrainian companies.
- Elimination of trade restrictions and customs duties to facilitate access of Ukrainian products to the Egyptian market.
- Creation of a food hub to supply Ukrainian food products to Egypt and neighboring countries.
Vitaly Koval emphasized that Ukraine is ready for an active dialogue with Egyptian partners, but it is important that cooperation benefits both sides.
The significance of the hub for Ukraine
The opening of a food hub in Egypt can be a strategic step to strengthen Ukraine's position as one of the world's leading exporters of agricultural products. Due to its geographical location, Egypt can become a bridge for supplying Ukrainian goods to the countries of the Middle East and North Africa.
Action plan: joint working group
To achieve this goal, the parties agreed to create a working group that will prepare a roadmap. This document should outline specific steps to eliminate barriers to trade, in particular, resolving customs and financial issues.
Prospects for cooperation
Deepening cooperation with Egypt will allow Ukraine not only to increase export volumes, but also to strengthen its role in the global agricultural market. In turn, for Egypt this will be an opportunity to ensure stable supplies of quality products at competitive prices.
The creation of a food hub can become a new stage in relations between Ukraine and Egypt, opening the way to new projects in the field of trade and investment.
