In 2024, the labor market for testers in Ukraine is experiencing changes in salaries, in particular, a decrease in income among automation testing specialists (Automation QA), while the salaries of experienced testers in the General QA industry and team leaders (Team Lead) in Manual QA have increased slightly. Only 1% of Ukrainian testers earn more than $6,900 per month.

These data became known thanks to the results of a survey conducted by the Ukrainian portal for IT specialists DOU, which made it possible to assess the current salaries of testers in various specializations.

One of the noticeable trends this year is a decrease in salaries among Automation QA specialists. This decrease affected testers of different levels, with the exception of Junior specialists, where the situation remained stable. Over the past six months, a decrease in salaries has been observed in both the first quartile (the lowest paid) and the third quartile (the highest paid).

In contrast, the General QA sector has seen positive growth. Salaries for experienced testers, such as Middle, Senior, and Team Lead, have increased, and this growth is noticeable in all quartiles. This indicates a steady increase in demand for qualified testers and an overall improvement in the situation in this labor market.

Salaries for testers in Manual QA have remained more stable. Junior and Middle specialists have not seen salary changes, while Senior testers have seen a slight decrease of $100. In contrast, Team Lead Manual QA salaries have increased by $225, indicating an increased role for team leaders in this area.

The study also showed that only 10% of testers earn more than $4,100, while 1% of specialists can boast salaries of more than $6,900. These figures emphasize the importance of experience and qualifications to achieve high incomes in the testing field.

Overall, the changes in the tester market indicate some stability, but there are also important nuances, such as a decrease in revenues in the field of automated testing. This may be due to a general change in trends in the IT market, where the demand for specialists of various profiles is constantly changing depending on market requirements.
