In April 2025, the Ukrainian market of used cars demonstrated a slight decrease in activity. According to official data from the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, about 74.3 thousand purchase and sale transactions of such vehicles were registered during the month. Compared to March of this year, this is 1.6% less, and if compared to April 2024, the drop is 40.7%. Last year, during this period, increased business activity was still maintained, caused by a wave of mass “rewriting” of cars.
These trends are reported by the Institute for Research on the Car Market, which systematically monitors the situation in the field of domestic auto trading.
The unchanging leader among brands in the secondary market remains the German Volkswagen, which confidently holds 21.2% of all transactions. Such a share provides it with a significant advantage over other brands. VAZ took second place, and Renault took third, only slightly behind the Russian brand in terms of the number of deals.
In the ranking of the most popular models, the Volkswagen Passat once again took first place. Skoda Octavia and Volkswagen Golf, which traditionally hold the top spot, are also in demand.
According to the results of April, the average age of a car sold on the secondary market in Ukraine remained unchanged at 15.8 years. This indicates stability in the structure of the supply of used cars.
Interestingly, Ukrainians bought not only mass-produced cars, but also elite and rare cars. In particular, deals were registered with one Maybach, two Lotus cars, three BMW Alpina, four Rolls-Royce, four Aston Martin, seven Lamborghinis, ten Bentleys and sixteen Maserati. However, there were also real retro examples on the market: among them was the ZiM-12 of 1954, as well as two GAZs - models 69 and M-20, manufactured in 1955.
