The Ukrainian used car market continues to show growth: in April 2025 alone, the national car fleet was replenished with more than 20.7 thousand passenger cars imported from abroad. This is 5% more than in the same period last year, reports the Ukravtoprom association.
According to analytical data, the largest share among imported cars was vehicles with gasoline engines — 46%. Electric cars were in second place in popularity, their share reaching 23%. This is followed by diesel cars — 22%, hybrid models — 5% and cars equipped with gas cylinder equipment (GBO) — 4%.
The most popular model among imported second-hand cars remains the Volkswagen Golf — in April, Ukrainians registered 1,189 such cars. It is followed by Renault Megane (838 units) and Skoda Octavia (696 units). At the same time, electric cars also demonstrate high dynamics - two Tesla models have entered the top ten most popular models.
This is how the full TOP-10 most popular models of April look like:
1. Volkswagen Golf - 1,189 units;
2. Renault Megane - 838 units;
3. Skoda Octavia - 696 units;
4. Tesla Model Y - 552 units;
5. Nissan Leaf - 544 units;
6. Audi Q5 - 511 units;
7. Volkswagen Tiguan - 510 units;
8. Volkswagen Passat - 491 units;
9. Nissan Rogue - 488 units;
10. Tesla Model 3 - 478 units
Analysts also note that the average age of used cars registered in Ukraine in April is 9.5 years. This indicates the stable preference of Ukrainians for not too old, but already run-in cars from abroad.
In total, since the beginning of 2025, Ukrainian citizens have purchased 71.3 thousand used cars imported from abroad. Despite the April growth, this is 5% less than in the first four months of 2024. At the same time, experts predict that the market may quickly resume growth rates, given the stabilization of customs regulation and the expansion of supply in the secondary market.
