Ukraine has regained control of the facilities known as "Boyko towers" that were occupied by Russia in 2014. This was reported by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
A unique operation to establish control over the "Boyko towers" was conducted by military units of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. In the course of the operation, they managed to regain control of such facilities as the Petro Godovalets and Ukraina drilling platforms, as well as the Tavrida and Syvash Border Security Services of Ukraine.
During one phase of the operation, a conflict arose between Ukrainian special forces using boats and a Russian Su-30 fighter jet. As a result of this battle, the Russian aircraft was hit and forced to retreat.
"Boyko's towers became the subject of a conflict after Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014, when many facilities and territories previously belonging to Ukraine were illegally annexed. The return of these facilities to Ukrainian control is an important development in the context of restoring the country's territorial integrity.
