Humanitarian demining is becoming an important task for Ukraine, and our country has received important assistance from Switzerland in the fight against this threat. The Ukrainian Ministry of Finance has announced that Switzerland will provide more than €100 million for humanitarian demining, enabling us to overcome the major challenges posed by mines and unexploded ordnance.
The scale of mine and unexploded ordnance contamination on the territory of Ukraine is unprecedented and has enormous consequences. Previously, this level of threat was only characteristic of the Second World War. Unexploded mines pose a danger to civilians, endangering human life and health. Children and youth are the most affected by this threat.
The Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, expressed her gratitude to the Government of Switzerland for their humanitarian support in addressing this serious issue. She emphasized that Ukraine could not have coped with the task of humanitarian demining without the help of international partners.
Thanks to this huge financial assistance from Switzerland, Ukraine will be able to launch a large-scale demining operation. This will help save many lives and restore the affected areas for further development. The international community recognizes the importance of joint efforts in dealing with humanitarian crises, and Switzerland has already set an example of partnership and support for Ukraine.
The joint efforts of Ukraine and Switzerland in humanitarian demining demonstrate that international partners are ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine in difficult situations. This assistance is a real help for our country in overcoming the consequences of the war and restoring our land. Ukraine is always grateful for the support of its international partners in difficult times.
