Turkish marketplace company Trendyol Group, which specializes in fashion and retail, plans to enter the Ukrainian market, providing users with an analog of Amazon, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine has reported.
According to the Ministry of Economy, Turkish companies, including Trendyol Group, are ready to invest in Ukraine immediately, even without waiting for the end of the war. Their interests include the high-tech sector and defense industry, as well as cooperation in the light industry and fashion production.
These statements were made during a meeting between Ukraine's Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and representatives of Turkish companies, including Baykar Defense CTO Salcuk Bayraktar and Trendyol Group President Cetin Çahalyan.
The Trendyol Group, which is controlled by the Chinese company Alibaba Group, successfully operates in many EU countries, Turkey and the Middle East. Cooperation with Ukraine can lead to favorable conditions for both parties: the Turkish counterpart of Amazon will be able to sell its goods in Ukraine, and Ukrainian producers will be able to expand exports through the popular marketplace.
The Minister of Economy of Ukraine emphasized that the Ukrainian fashion industry continues to develop, even in difficult times of war. She noted that it is important to provide domestic producers with access to new markets and support them on their way to global exports.
The parties discussed the construction of the Baykar Defense plant for the production of drones in Ukraine and the prospects for exporting products using Ukrainian components. The Minister emphasized the importance of foreign investment to support the high-tech sector and the defense industry, and stressed the need to expand production and exports to enter new markets.
