Ukrainian gardeners increased strawberry prices this week due to unfavorable weather conditions. The price of this berry increased by 37% due to the cold weather.
This was reported by the EastFruit project, which specializes in agricultural market analysis.
Analysts indicate that the most important reason for the increase in prices was the unsatisfactory supply of strawberries, which is explained by the deterioration of weather conditions in the main regions where this berry is grown.
Today, Ukrainian gardeners sell strawberries for an average of 50-80 hryvnias per kilogram, which is 37% higher than at the end of last week.
"The hype around strawberries is caused by its extremely low volume on the market, although the season for harvesting berries from open ground in the south and west of the country has already begun," experts emphasize.
They also note that compared to the same period last year, local strawberries are sold 48% cheaper.
However, analysts predict that prices for this berry may soon decrease as weather conditions stabilize, which will lead to an increase in the supply of strawberries from local farms.
