The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has identified places for the placement of small power plants, where it is planned to install gas turbines and gas piston units. These measures are part of the strategy to increase the country's energy capacity before the next winter season. This became known after the meeting of the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko with the director of the Secretariat of the Energy Community Artur Lorkovsky, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reported.
Galushchenko emphasized the need for active cooperation with international partners, business and local authorities for the effective implementation of distributed energy generation in the regions of Ukraine. Appropriate gas turbines and gas piston plants should ensure a reliable power supply, especially during severe winter periods.
It is planned that the necessary equipment will be purchased at the expense of the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, the amount of contributions to which currently exceeds 545 million euros. This fund is an important tool for financing projects aimed at modernizing the country's energy infrastructure.
The meeting also discussed the logistics of supplying energy equipment to Ukraine from partner countries and ensuring the protection of energy facilities. These aspects are important for ensuring the stability of the country's energy sector in conditions of geopolitical instability.
Adopting a decision on determining locations for small power plants is a step towards strengthening Ukraine's energy independence and increasing its readiness for possible energy challenges in the future.
