The Ukrainian metallurgical industry demonstrates stable positive dynamics. In January 2025, domestic enterprises smelted 611 thousand tons of steel, which is 12.3% more than in the same period last year. Such data was published on February 10 by the Ukrmetallurgprom association of enterprises.
In addition to steel production, a positive trend was also recorded in other segments of metallurgy. In particular, pig iron production in January increased by 7.2%, reaching 595 thousand tons. This indicates the stabilization of the work of enterprises and the restoration of production capacities after last year's challenges.
A significant improvement is also observed in the production of rolled products. In the first month of 2025, metallurgical plants produced 480 thousand tons of rolled products, which is 6% higher than in January 2024.
Experts explain this dynamics by the gradual recovery of the industry, the growth of demand for Ukrainian metal and the adaptation of manufacturers to new export conditions. At the same time, the preservation of the positive trend will depend on the further situation on external markets, logistical capabilities and energy supply of enterprises.
Despite the difficulties associated with hostilities and limited access to some markets, the metallurgical industry remains an important sector of the Ukrainian economy. It is expected that in 2025, the enterprises of the industry will continue to increase production and export volumes, supporting the national economy in wartime conditions.
