The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the procedure for using funds provided for in the state budget for the development and maintenance of public roads in 2025. The total amount of funding is UAH 12.6 billion, and these funds will be directed to important infrastructure projects throughout the country.
This was reported by the government representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk. He specified that the distribution of these funds will be carried out in accordance with the approved procedure, which determines the priorities and areas of expenditure on repair, reconstruction and construction of public roads.
The main area of use of funds will be the improvement of road infrastructure of national importance. In particular, funding is provided for new construction, capital repairs and reconstruction of highways passing through territories of national importance. In 2025, a number of important projects related to the development of border crossing points will also be implemented within the framework of the European Union's Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program, as well as for projects financed by public borrowing.
The government also plans to develop and modernize border crossing points, which will facilitate convenient and efficient border crossing for transport. This initiative will finance projects related to the repair and construction of roads, as well as the modernization of existing road crossing points for road traffic.
People's Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko, commenting on the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution, added that the allocated funds will be directed not only to the construction of new roads, but also to the repair and reconstruction of existing roads, which have long been in need of attention. Special attention will also be paid to the development of border crossing points, which are an important part of the country's infrastructure.
Projects involving the use of funds under the EU Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program will ensure Ukraine's integration into the European transport network. In addition, state borrowing will be involved for the implementation of some projects, which will allow for more effective restoration and modernization of the country's transport infrastructure.
The State Reconstruction Agency has been appointed as the main spending unit for these projects, which will be responsible for coordinating and controlling expenditures. This agency will ensure the effective use of budget funds and the implementation of all planned projects in the field of road infrastructure.
