In March 2025, chicken meat rose significantly in price, in particular, chicken thigh became the most expensive. According to the monthly price monitoring of the Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club Association (UKAB), compared to last year, prices for this product increased by 19.04%, and compared to 2023 - by 23.03%.
The average cost of chicken thigh in March this year is 125 UAH per kilogram. Since the beginning of the month, the price of this type of meat has increased by 3 UAH, and in supermarkets prices range from 114 to 219 UAH per kilogram, depending on the manufacturer. Over the past year, the price of chicken thigh has increased by more than 19%. For example, in March 2024, this product cost 105 UAH per kilogram, and in 2023 - 101.6 UAH.
As for other types of chicken, a chicken carcass in March costs an average of 94.1 UAH per kilogram. Depending on the manufacturer, prices vary from 79.2 UAH to 131 UAH per 1 kg. Over the year, the average price for a chicken carcass increased by 11.1 UAH, or 13.37%. Compared to February of this year, the price for a chicken carcass increased by 8.5 UAH, which is 9.92%.
Chicken fillet has also experienced a significant increase in price. In March 2025, the average price for chicken fillet is 185 UAH per kilogram. In supermarkets, the price can range from 174 to 275 UAH per 1 kg, depending on the manufacturer. Over the year, the price of fillet increased by 27 UAH (17.08%). In March 2024, this product cost 158 UAH per kilogram, and over the month it increased by 6 UAH (3.35%).
It is worth noting that compared to March 2023, when fillet cost 140 UAH per kilogram, over two years its cost increased by 45 UAH (32.14%). The increase in the price of chicken is associated with the high cost of feed, as prices for grain and oilseeds continue to recover, which also affects the cost of meat production.
In general, although chicken prices in Ukraine have increased, demand for these products remains stable, which confirms the continuation of the trend towards an increase in the cost of meat in conditions of consistently high feed costs.
