Prices for carrots in Ukraine are falling to unprecedented levels, putting farmers in a difficult situation due to oversupply and insufficient demand for this indigenous vegetable. According to analysts from EastFruit, farmers need to buy large volumes of medium-sized carrots that have a limited shelf life.
In this regard, producers are forced to reduce prices for carrots. Today, this vegetable is sold at prices ranging from UAH 7 to 12 per kilogram, which is 40% cheaper than last fall.
Farmers say that the carrot market has been experiencing a large oversupply over the past few weeks, forcing them to sell carrots in limited quantities. In addition, due to the high availability of carrots on the market, buyers are actively seeking lower prices.
Farmers' forecasts are not very optimistic, and they do not expect the situation to improve quickly. The market is still unable to cope with the large volume of carrots due to the slow pace of its sales.
Outside of carrots, the Ukrainian market has been experiencing a decline in prices for onions from the 2023 harvest for three weeks now. The situation on the agricultural market requires attention and analysis, and farmers are looking for ways out of this difficult situation.
