Ukraine can expect stable prices for vegetables this year, without a rapid growth, as it happened last year. This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Taras Vysotsky, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, noted that agriculture in the central, western and even northern regions of the country is actively expanding vegetable production.
"Vegetables have been grown in abundance this year. However, the question remains whether we will be able to store them until spring, as the infrastructure for storing the harvest until spring is not yet developed and cannot appear very quickly. Therefore, seasonal fluctuations in vegetable prices may still occur," Vysotsky said.
Yaroslav Andreyev, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Association of Potato Producers (UAPP), also confirmed that Ukraine has been getting a good potato harvest for the third year in a row due to favorable weather conditions.
Currently, Ukraine is actively harvesting vegetables. Lviv region leads the way in terms of the amount of vegetables grown, while Poltava region has the highest yield, reaching 244 centners per hectare.
It should be noted that after a slight increase in carrot prices in Ukraine, prices have stabilized again. The Ukrainian market is also seeing a decline in prices for onions of the new 2023 harvest.
Ukrainians can expect stable vegetable prices this year, which creates favorable conditions for consumers and farmers.
