Switzerland has launched the second phase of a humanitarian aid project for milk producers in Ukraine, providing an additional CHF 2.2 million (about UAH 88.5 million). This support is aimed at improving the conditions for the production of quality and safe dairy products, as well as ensuring food security in Ukraine, particularly in seven regions.

According to the results of the first phase of the project, 296 farms in Chernihiv, Kyiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions have already received the necessary means to comply with hygienic standards in milk production. The project aims to help milk producers ensure hygiene during milking and udder handling and improve the quality of dairy products.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine emphasizes that this support will help reduce the risk of animal health deterioration and the spread of diseases due to poor hygiene during milking. This, in turn, affects food safety and consumer health.

The project is being implemented in seven regions of Ukraine, including Dnipro, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Kherson. It is particularly relevant for the regions affected by military operations and disasters, such as the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam and large-scale mining of agricultural land.

Thanks to this assistance, milk producers will have the means to disinfect and ensure hygienic conditions in the production process. This will help improve the quality of milk and products made from it.

It is important to note that the procurement of goods will be carried out mainly by Ukrainian suppliers who operated on the market before the war. This will help restore production practices and technologies, as well as preserve the interconnections between farms in milk production.

Switzerland's initiative to provide financial support to milk producers in Ukraine is an important step in improving the quality of dairy products and increasing food safety for the Ukrainian population.
